Real progress is being made on improving Davisville Avenue, with the goal of making it safer and more usable for all.
The City has scheduled improvements to be completed in 2026.
On February 12, 2025 a community consultation meeting took place to discuss opportunities to improve safety, accessibility, plantings and green features and other improvements for everyone using and especially crossing Davisville Avenue.
Councillor Matlow, SEDRA and others once again stressed the point that a traffic light for pedestrian crossings of Davisville at the east end of Davisville/Spectrum school will be far safer for the large number of pedestrians – hundreds of them children – who cross there every day. The great thing about this is there is no tradeoff here. Traffic flow will be improved, not compromised, as the light will be green for traffic almost all the time.
This is the case where such pedestrian traffic crossing lights are used on Yonge south of Eglinton, at the south entrance to Eglinton Station, and on Eglinton East, just east of Hoyle Ave. The fact that such lights are used on other, busier, main arteries in our neighbourhood underlines that this is the right solution to the many years of safety problems at the crossing by Davisville/Spectrum school.
Attendees at the meeting included representatives from Davisville Care Program, Greenwood College School, the Oriole Park Association, Friends of Oriole Park, WalkTO and area residents, many of whom shared their concerns with the City staff attending the Question and Answer session.
