My comments for 2023.PH8.2 on November 30, 2023 Planning and Housing Committee
Please add my comments to the agenda for the November 30, 2023 Planning and Housing Committee meeting on item 2023.PH8.2, Recommended Amendments to Zoning By-laws for Bars, Restaurants and Entertainment Venues as part of the Night Economy Review – Final Report.
This letter is in support of FoNTRA letter and recommendations for this item, specifically to:
- That consideration of PH8.2 Recommended Amendment to the Zoning Bylaw for Bars, Restaurants and Entertainment Venues as part of the Night Economy Review be deferred, allowing for consideration of relevant aspects of the Noise Bylaw Review including measurement of noise levels at source.
- That City Planning and MLS undertake a joint public consultation process and undertake other measures to provide information and receive public input to the proposals in this report, and that of PH8.2, and submit amended reports following the consultations, and that the scheduling of the Noise Bylaw Review Report be adjusted to consider the results of the consultations.
- That the Noise Bylaw Review report address measurement of noise at source.
As a resident of the City of Toronto, I am upset with the lack of community consultation on this matter specifically as it relates to Entertainment Venues (including nightclubs).
Additional consultation on this proposed bylaw and licensing amendments is required in all the wards of the city that will be impacted by the proposed changes.
