Residents of the Davisville/South Eglinton area continue to be “surprised” by the size of the new infill houses appearing in our neighbourhood. The current approval process for these houses is often described as the “Wild West”. SERRA members and residents will have an opportunity on June 29th to learn more and offer their opinions on planning in our residential neighbourhood.
City Planning staff are undertaking a neighbourhood study for the area known as Davisville Village, generally bounded by Eglinton Avenue East, Yonge Street, Merton Street and Bayview Avenue.
Our Councillor, Josh Matlow, has sponsored this study as a result of growing concerns that these new homes with integral garages and raised first floors are disrupting the traditional character of our area.
The City planning staff are inviting all residents and interested parties to attend an important kickoff meeting on Wednesday, June 29th, to learn more about the study, ask questions and share your comments. The public meeting will be held at the Church of the Transfiguration, 111 Manor Road East, between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. This meeting is an important opportunity for residents to influence future growth in our neighbourhood.
